Many people don't know exactly what engineering is and what an engineer does. The Oxford Dictionary defines "engineering" as "The branch of science and technology concerned with design, and use of engines, machines, and structures" So far Engineering doesn't seem too confusing. Engineering isn't all about putting things together and building, there are a lot different pieces to the puzzle that also fall into place. Engineers recognize problems and come up with solutions, a lot of the time they will end up discovering something new along the way. A quote from Albert Einstein says "Scientists investigate that which already is; Engineers create that which has never been." Engineers don't only build things, they create them. for example, there are engineers who try to come up with new ways to make things, whether it's making things cheaper, or lighter or less hazardous towards the environment. It's not all about designing and building bridges, roads and engines for cars. There really isn't a set amount of things that engineers can do, there are thousands of different things that engineers do, from simple ideas to creating renewable energy. There are many different types of engineering, mechanical, chemical, materials, civil, computer, etc. Many of the types of engineering go hand in hand with each other and deal with similar things, though some are completely different from the others. Essentially everything we use today was designed or thought of by an engineer.

I honestly never knew exactly what engineering was. Since it's such a broad field, I never took the time to look into how it breaks down. I always just assumed engineers only build stuff. Which field of engineering are you looking into? I think if i was to be an engineer i would chose chemical because it seems the most interesting. Also, what are some unique jobs or experiences that come out of engineering?
